Information about Our Family Programs
Serenity Renewal for Families offers a variety of unique programs for children and youth, along with their parents or other adults involved in their care. Our evidence-based programs enhance communication within the family unit and offer family members coping tools in a safe and supportive environment.

Mindful Kids Art Camp
Audience: Children aged 7-12 who are affected by addiction in the family
Date: July 14th-18th, 2025
Facilitators: Serenity Renewal for Families Team
Location: 404 McArthur Avenue, Ottawa
This camp offers creative expression and mindful techniques to help children develop coping skills to deal with their emotions, unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. Children will learn how to combine art and mindfulness to calm themselves and focus on the here and now. Activities include painting, drawing, and games.

Strengthening Families for the Future
Audience: Children ages 7 to 17 and caring adults (parents/guardians)

This 10-week program is for parents/guardians and children. A prevention program endorsed by CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) that provides families with skills to enhance their communication and improve their relationships. The program offers valuable weekly tools covering communication skills, peer pressure, anger, and expectations. It is an interactive program with activities to do during the workshops as a family and activities to do during the week before our next session.

B.A.B.E.S.: Beginning Awareness and Basic Education Studies
Audience: Children ages 5 to 8 and caring adults (parents/guardians)

This evidence-based prevention program uses storytelling techniques and puppets to teach young children the skills they need to cope with peer pressure and difficult situations. We cover substance abuse and addictions from an age-appropriate perspective. Caring adults (parents/guardians) are required to attend and participate in a parent’s group.
The program fee is $140 per family. ** Sliding scale available
